The Original AEB Test System is becoming a necessity for US carmakers and automotive supplier s
Munich/Germany, February 24th, 2015 – The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration) has announced a further implementation of the AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) test systems into the respective recommended
safety list of the US NCAP Organization. This will eventually lead to a full implementation of the AEB tests into the well-known NCAP star rating system over the next years.
The Original AEB Test System is produced and distributed by the German company MESSRING, under license from the ADAC (largest automobile club in
Europe). Several US-based companies like Ford and Honda are already using the MESSRING test rig in North America as the benchmark product in the testing
of advanced emergency braking assistance systems. Until now, the system was only relevant to companies that wanted to sell their vehicles in Europe, but
its area of operation is swiftly spreading all across the globe. Euro NCAP was quick to include the testing device
into their official test protocol for all AEB System tests published in July 2013. China NCAP will include the test protocol in its regulations beginning from 2018.
The Original AEB Test System is comprised mainly of two components – a so called “Target” which is designed
to look like a car’s rear end, and a rugged track system made out of solid metal where the target is mounted on.
The track system is attached to a conventional automobile trailer hitch and can be used for speeds of up to 50
mph . The stable metal construction is unique to the system as it guarantees a controlled and linear guided test
procedure. The system is user-friendly thanks to its ability to be set up quickly and its high possible testing frequency.
